Abortion Option Education & Information

Abortion is a life-changing choice.

You have just found out you’re pregnant or think you might be. You have plans and having a baby right now is not one of them. Unpregnant, so many of us wish it was a real word. You would like to just make this whole thing go away, and you might feel you could do that. But you owe it to yourself to get the facts about abortion. Any other medical procedure you have would require a lot of paperwork for you to read and sign.  This allows you to understand what you are about to undergo including all the risks that could be involved.

You are not alone with the feelings you have. Many other women felt the same way that you do, and many of those women who had an abortion now wish they had been given all the facts before making that life-altering decision. Abortion changed everything for them.

A New Generation will provide the information you need to make an informed decision about your pregnancy. Although we do not perform or refer for abortions, we know that it is an option you may be considering. We believe that by empowering you with abortion information, you can make an informed, confident decision in regards to abortion options.

Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. Natural abortion can occur spontaneously due to complications during pregnancy. This is commonly known as miscarriage. Induced abortion is a surgical or medical procedure that terminates a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo, resulting in its death.

You will need to have an ultrasound to verify your pregnancy and to determine how far along you are in your pregnancy in order to know which abortion procedure is applicable. Ultrasounds are provided at no cost. Learn about the difference.

Parenting

Choosing to parent is a very difficult decision to make and will hold many challenges. At the same time, it can be very rewarding and could very well end up being the best decision you ever make. Everyone has their own unique situation and obstacles to face and we are here to help you sort through those.

You’ll get to know and love the baby you’re carrying. YOU will be that someone who is the most important person in your child’s life.

This baby is here now for a reason. You may not see the reason at this time but the future is wide open. Your child could make an important difference in the future. You could be the mother of someone who changes the world. Who knows what your child could grow up to be and do? You carry on your family line and your baby is that next generation. The new generation in your family.

Maybe this isn’t the right time, but you are the right person. We all have plans for our lives. It’s great to have a plan for life, but sometimes we have to alter the plan to make room for a more important role. You can have this child AND your plans. Maybe it takes you an extra year to finish college or advance in your job. Maybe you aren’t married yet, but he is still out there. And if he’s really the right man for you, he’ll love you and your child. In other words, your plan can grow and expand to make room for your new baby and the new you.

We will help you be the best parent you can be.

Some of us at A New Generation have been exactly where you are and made the decision to raise our babies. We are here to share our journeys with you. Just like you, they didn’t plan on being pregnant, but they chose the high road. They embraced their new roles in life and made it through.

Emergency Contraception: Morning After Pill/Plan B

What is Emergency Contraception?

Often referred to as the “morning-after pill,” it is a high dose of certain types of the birth control pill, made up of estrogen and progestin or progestin only. The morning after pill is used to prevent pregnancy for women who’ve had unprotected sex or whose birth control method has failed. It does not end a pregnancy that has implanted.

How Does the Morning After Pill Work?

Emergency contraception works through high doses of the synthetic hormones of estrogen and progestin, or progestin only, which help regulate ovulation and fertility similar to the way in which the natural forms of these hormones work. It may prevent pregnancy through one or more of these three methods:

The first dose of pills is taken as soon as possible (within 72 hours), followed by another dose 12 hours later.

How Effective is the Process?

Emergency contraception decreases the possibility of pregnancy by 75-89% depending on the type of medication taken. This method is most effective the earlier it is taken. The morning after pill is not as effective as other forms of birth control and it isn’t recommended for routine use. It offers no protection against sexually transmitted infections.

The Morning-After Pill Isn’t Appropriate for Everyone

Don’t take a morning-after pill if:

If you’re overweight or obese, there’s some indication that the morning-after pill won’t be as effective in preventing pregnancy as it is for women who aren’t overweight.

What are the Side Effects or Health Risks of Emergency Contraception?

It has side effects similar to those experienced by users of oral or other hormonal types of contraception which include:

  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Irregular or heavy period
  • Breast tenderness
  • Lower abdominal pain or cramps

What About Emergency Contraception and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)?

Emergency Contraception does NOT provide protection against the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.

This information is taken from American Pregnancy Association.

At A New Generation we will confirm your pregnancy with a lab quality test and preform an ultrasound (after meeting required criteria) which may confirm a viable pregnancy and the gestational age.  This information will equip you to make the best decision for your pregnancy.  It is important to remember that 1 in 5 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Be Seen.  Be Heard. Be Valued.

Adoption

Maybe now is just not the time for you to become a mom, and you want to know if adoption is an option for you.

Adoption allows you to continue pursuing your plans while still being the best possible mother to your baby by carrying to term and choosing adoption by placing your child with a loving family of your choosing.

Your unselfishness in releasing your child to a better life than you can provide at this time is the ultimate sacrifice in motherhood. You may not be able to provide everything you want for your child, but your decision to make an adoption plan is a loving choice and can provide your baby a great life.

If you choose to make an adoption plan, you have the option between an open, semi-open or closed adoption. In other words, you have the option to remain in contact with your child and the family, or you can choose limited or no contact. It’s your decision as to the kind of adoption plan you want to make. We understand that this is not an easy decision to make and only you can make it; but, you are not alone in the process.  You are seen, heard and valued.
